Furniture made from historical wood

Muinasmööbel custom furniture is mainly used to furnish log houses and country homes.  Each piece is unique and of enduring value.

Materials and technology

• Historical wood
  The furniture is made out of carefully chosen old wood.  If necessary, we dry, freeze, or preserve the wood.Recycled wood is of enduring value and each piece is one-of-a-kind.  Usually properly stored old wood is of better quality, since the tree was felled at the right time, sufficiently dried, and chosen based on its intended use.

• The coming together of material, technology, and history
  The entire piece should be made from the wood of one log house, since each log house has a different history.  This is expressed in the wear, color, hardness, and other properties of the wood.  The wood is often missing four base laiers which requires that it be worked with a high level of skill and attention to detail.

  How the furniture is made

• We demolish log houses that have fallen into disuse
• We clean the wood from sand and nails
• We saw the logs with our mobile bandsaw mill
• Working together with the client, we craft the historical wood furniture

How to order

• Where to start
  Come to our workshop or call
  Measure the space where you want to place your furniture (the location and size of windows, locations of electrical sockets, etc)  Sketch your ideas on paper and come to the Muinasööbel workshop

• Ideas for projects
  Through discussions the initial ideas become drawings on paper.

• Work begins
  Based on the drawing we make an offer and if the offer is acceptable, we formalize the order.

• Time for completion
  The time for completion is generally one to two months.

• Payment conditions
  50% of the order price is to be paid at the finalizing of the order contract. The rest is to be paid when the furniture is finished.

• Delivery

• Installation
  The cost for installation is approximately 10% of the furniture price and is done immediately when the furniture is delivered.
